Not at all! Everyone is welcome, and our priority is to make collective knowledge and imagination as accessible as possible. Supporting membership is a way for members to help us stay independent and keep our nonprofit alive and kicking. In return, we’ll send members perks that we hope will spark your curiosity or engage your senses – but most of our core content is designed to be kept free and open to all members, regardless of their ability to pay.

Your account is totally under your control! You can change your billing information, mailing address, or preferences at any time. Just click the account icon in the top-right corner to make the changes you need.

Unless otherwise noted, our experiences are primarily designed for adults. While many of our materials and designs may be appropriate for some teenagers and older children, depending on their guardians comfort levels, we defer to you to determine whether you’re comfortable sharing our content with the kids in your life. That said, we recognize that a lot of grown-ups like to spend their free time with their families, so keep an eye out for more family-friendly experiences in the future, which will be clearly labelled. And if you want some inspiring STEM stories for your kids or classroom, our I Am a Scientist initiative is designed with middle and high schoolers in mind!

Definitely not! Our headquarters is currently in San Fransisco, but The Plenary, Co. is a national nonprofit. We prioritize developing experiences and resources that anyone can access. While there are in-person events in San Francisco, we’re constantly expanding and experimenting with our virtual and physical offerings to try to bring our experiences to you, where ever you are.

Your membership is a donation to our 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, The Plenary, Co. and is not a purchase of specific goods or services. We send out perks to Members as a “thank you” and to experiment with creative new ways to explore ideas with our community. If you’d like access to the site without the physical items, you can opt for a lower membership circle.

You can support our organization at any amount without needing to receive anything in the mail unless you want to. When you’re logged in, go to your Account, navigate to the “Account” tab, and manage your preferences under the “Preferences” section. There you’ll find an option to opt-out of receiving the physical items associated with your Membership Circle.
